Simon Mwongo Warukungi

Angela Maya, an American poet, said, “People will always forget what you said and what you did for them, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”

The 66-year journey around the sun of Simon Mwongo Warukungi was barred on Monday, 16th of December 2024. Simon Mwongo Warukungi passed on at Komarock Modern Hospital, Utawala ICU. He succumbed to Stage IV lung cancer, which was diagnosed in early 2019.

The news of Simon Mwongo, a retired TSC professional who served with humanity and compassion, kicking out his last breath not only has shuttered the lights of the family but also burnt the hearts of hope to those who knew him from a close range.

“The Late Simon Mwongo spread equity and togetherness plates full of love. His departure pierces and bruises my heart daily. Whenever his kind nature flashbacks, a tear drops since it’s vivid that seeing him again isn’t any time soon. The society had a teacher and father to learn from. Hail to those who happened to work with him. He was a leader,” Madam Priscilla, Njukini Primary School senior teacher, said.

Akket, the technologist and third daughter to Simon Mwongo, was in disbelief that her dad left without a goodbye. Her heart sank in deep sorrow since it was clear in her mind that she would never find another accommodating man like her dad.

Akket Mwongo echoed Richard Nixon’s, former US President, words, “A man is not finished when he is defeated. He is defeated when he quits.” She elaborated her words by stating that her dad taught them the art of perseverance and humility, tilling to the last weed.

Pastor Aron Mutugi of Redeemed Gospel Church-Nkondi expressed his solemn condolences to the family and friends. The Man of God was short of words as he joined the grieving team for the loss of a committed and dedicated believer in the Ministry of God’s Kingdom.

“Simon Mwongo has served God for the longest time everyone can attest. We don’t question God’s plan, but good people happen to leave us sooner than we expect. Simon has been present in the development of the church and encouraged anybody who sought his direction and advice.

All I’m sure is that for one reason or another, everyone is feeling a gap in their hearts. May God almighty stand with us firmly until we come to accept the fact our brother has left. Shalom,” Pst. Aron Mutugi encouraged the believers.

May the fallen soldier rest in eternal power as God strengthens, mends, pours, and smears His everlasting peace to Simon’s family, close friends, and believers at large.
Goodbye, our pillar of hope.

Dedication to: Simon Mwongo Warukungi’s extended family, Dr. Sk. Nyamu of Komarock Modern Hospital, Diego Wilson of County Guards, and The Church.
