Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has declared that the time has come for a Luhya to ascend to the presidency, signaling a political shift ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a recent public rally, Natembeya said the era of Agikuyu-Kalenjin dominance must come to an end, urging Kenyans to embrace leadership from other historically sidelined communities, including the Maasai, Turkana, and Pokot.
“This country doesn’t belong to two communities alone,” Natembeya asserted. “We want to see a Luhya president in 2027. It’s time for others to lead.”
The bold remarks are seen as part of Natembeya’s growing national political profile as he positions himself as a leading voice from Western Kenya.
