On April 18, 2017, Joseph Wamalwa, Cecilia Wangare, Benson Ndegwa, Wesonga Sijeyo, and Jairus Musumba allegedly conspired to fraudulently register a piece of land at the Nairobi land registry. The group is accused of using a fake land title for a plot in Kayole, falsely claiming the land was located in Dandora to obtain registration by false pretence.
Appearing before the Milimani court on June 11, 2025, the three accused had absconded from court on June 9, 2025, where they were scheduled to enter their plea. Only Joseph Wamalwa, one of the five, showed up for the plea. He was released on a bond of KSH 100,000 or a cash bail of KSH 50,000.

The three, through their lawyer, requested that the court grant them bail. However, the prosecution sought to maintain the warrant of arrest for the second accused, Cecilia Wangare, who did not appear in court.
The magistrate granted the warrant of arrest for the second accused and set the matter for mention.
