What started as a routine road trip turned into a movie-worthy heist for one unsuspecting motorist and a hilarious takedown for Makindu’s finest!

A 38-year-old man identified as Musyoka Mutava, now infamously trending in police circles, has been nabbed in Makueni after allegedly masterminding a highway ambush straight out of a bad action film.

The victim, cruising in a silver Subaru Trezia from Mombasa to Malaba (probably vibing to Afrobeats and minding his own business), decided to do a good deed by picking up two hitchhikers in Mariakani. But kindness, they say, can sometimes come back with a slap, literally.

As the car reached Kiunduani Market, one hitchhiker politely said, “Nashuka hapa.” The driver slowed down. Suddenly BAM! Chaos erupted like a Nollywood plot twist. Two thugs emerged from the bushes, whacked the driver with a blunt object (rude), snatched his car and belongings, and zoomed off like it was a Fast and Furious audition.

Luckily, the injured driver was rushed to Makindu Sub County Hospital and later discharged in stable condition, probably with one major life lesson: no more random strangers in the backseat.

But the story doesn’t end there. Armed with brains, boots, and some CSI-level forensics, the Makindu police trailed the hot wheels to Ukia. There, they found the missing Subaru and Mutava, who, let’s just say, wasn’t exactly ready for visitors.

His gang? Vanished. But not before leaving behind a motorcycle, two sets of shady number plates (KDH 486F and KDN 192W), and a pair of very suspicious screwdrivers.

The suspect is now cooling off in police custody, possibly regretting his career choices, as detectives extend the dragnet to hook the rest of the ‘Kiunduani Karrobbery Crew’.

Moral of the story? Don’t pick up strangers. Don’t hide in bushes. And if you must steal, maybe don’t leave your screwdriver behind.
