Tension is high in Embu town this morning as bodaboda operators take to the streets to protest the arrest of their treasurer by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) yesterday.
The arrest, which took place under unclear circumstances, has sparked outrage among members of the bodaboda community, who accuse authorities of targeting their leadership unfairly. Protesters are demanding the immediate release of their colleague, saying his detention is politically motivated and meant to cripple their operations.
The demonstrations have led to traffic disruptions in parts of Embu town, with a heavy police presence deployed to monitor the situation. No violence has been reported so far, but tension continues to build.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the arrest.
