In a dramatic turn of events that adds yet another feather to his already colourful cap, Embakasi East Member of Parliament, the ever-controversial and charismatic Babu Owino, has officially been admitted to the bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. Yes, you read that right. Babu Owino, the former student leader turned political firebrand, has now added learnt friend to his growing list of titles.

The ceremony at the iconic Supreme Court building was nothing short of momentous. Cloaked in the traditional advocate’s robe and white neckband, Babu cut a striking figure—half politician, half courtroom gladiator, wholly determined to reshape his public image. As his name was called out among the cohort of new advocates, a hush fell over the courtroom gallery, only to be followed by a wave of celebratory applause and ululations from his loyal supporters.

In typical Babu fashion, the MP did not hold back. “This is not just a personal victory,” he proclaimed outside the courtroom, “but a testament to the transformative power of education and the spirit of resilience. From the lecture halls of the University of Nairobi to the corridors of Parliament, and now to the sacred chambers of justice, I am ready to defend, to speak, and to uphold the rule of law!”

Known for his impassioned speeches and razor-sharp comebacks on the political stage, Babu Owino’s latest achievement signals a new chapter, one where he may soon be arguing constitutional law in courtrooms instead of just in televised debates.

Social media erupted within minutes of the announcement, with hashtags like #BabuTheBarrister and #AdvocateOwino trending nationwide. Fans hailed him as a role model for young people, while critics grudgingly admitted this was no small feat.

Whether he’ll swap political theatrics for legal arguments full-time remains to be seen, but one thing is certain. The courtroom has just gotten a lot more interesting. Babu Owino has arrived, legally armed and dangerously eloquent.
