Businessman Peter Wanjema Mwangi

Peter Wanjema Mwangi, a businessman, has been charged with conspiracy to defraud an individual of 1.3 hectares of land, valued at millions.

Mwangi appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe and pleaded not guilty to the charges of land fraud, conspiracy, and forgery of letters of allotment for the disputed land.

The allegations against Mwangi concern a parcel of land and the falsification of documents related to its ownership. The legal proceedings will determine his culpability for the alleged fraudulent activities.

According to the charge sheet in court, Wanjema is charged that on or before 16th June 2010, jointly with others already before the court, he conspired to defraud John Irungu Huma of a parcel of land measuring 1.300 ha.

The court heard that the alleged land had a market value of approximately Sh 230 million in the Kenyan market.

According to the prosecution, Wanjema had deceived Irungu into genuinely believing he had been allocated the said parcel by Nairobi City County.

He is also facing another charge of forging a letter of allotment for the land
reference number 209/1 1391, valued at approximately Sh 230 million, purporting it to be a genuine and valid letter of allotment issued by Nairobi City County to Bahati Development Welfare Association.

The court released Njema on a bond of Sh 1,000,000 or an alternative cash bail of Sh 600,000.

The matter will be mentioned on the 6th of February this year.
