The Ministry of Health has raised the alarm over a staggering 44,000+ companies that have failed to remit their employees’ Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF deductions).

In a sweeping audit aimed at ensuring compliance with the newly implemented SHIF law, the ministry revealed that thousands of employers have been collecting health contributions from workers but not forwarding them to the National Health Insurance Fund’s successor system.

This non-compliance not only jeopardises the health coverage of thousands of workers but also threatens the credibility of the universal healthcare model the government is striving to implement. The Health Ministry has warned of possible legal consequences for defaulters and urged affected employees to report any discrepancies.
