MPs PUT BRAKES ON NGONG FOREST HOTEL DEMAND TO UNMASK ‘GHOST’ DEVELOPER IN LAND DRAMA

In what could pass for a gripping Netflix series think The Forest, The Hotel & The Mysterious Billionaire Members of Parliament have slammed the brakes on a controversial plan to build a luxury hotel in the heart of Nairobi’s beloved Ngong Forest.

Yes, you read that right. Someone and nobody seems to know who exactly wants to turn a chunk of this cherished natural haven into a posh playground for the wealthy. But Kenya’s MPs are having none of it. They want answers, names, and receipts. In fact, the only thing missing from this forest saga is a masked villain and a Scooby-Doo-style unmasking scene.

During a heated parliamentary session (read. verbal WWE), the lawmakers demanded that the identity of the shadowy developer behind the proposed hotel be revealed. “We can’t just sit back and watch a mystery mogul turn Ngong Forest into a concrete jungle in the name of investment,” one MP quipped, barely holding back dramatic flair.

The Ngong Forest Reserve, often described as Nairobi’s green lungs, is not only a vital environmental asset but also a favorite spot for joggers, nature lovers, and couples who still believe in romance over Netflix. The thought of bulldozers ploughing through the serene forest to make way for a boutique hotel? Let’s just say it didn’t sit well with the Parliamentarians or most Kenyans, for that matter.

“Next, someone will say they want to build a casino in Karura or a mall inside Nairobi National Park!” exclaimed another MP, drawing chuckles from his colleagues.

The hotel plan, shrouded in mystery, sparked public uproar when it quietly surfaced almost as if someone hoped to sneak it in while everyone was busy watching viral TikToks. But thanks to an alert Parliament and a few nosey journalists (bless them), the plot has now thickened.

MPs are now demanding a full probe, complete with land documents, environmental impact reports, and hopefully the name of the stealthy tycoon lurking behind the scenes. “Who owns the land? Who gave the approvals? And most importantly, who stands to benefit?” they asked.

As things stand, the forest remains untouched for now. But the drama is far from over. If this story were a Facebook post, it would definitely be: Feeling suspicious at Ngong Forest
