National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has disclosed that he is the Luhya community’s kingpin. On Friday, Wetang’ula said new leaders in politics are supposed to back him due to his position, which has proximity to the presidency.
“I am almost at the helm of the leadership of this country. I believe after Ruto completes his term, I will be the one to take over. I advise the new leaders from this region to back me instead of fighting against me,” said Wetang’ula in his Luhya dialect.
He spoke in Kiminini during an empowerment function that was attended by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, and MP Kakai Bisau, among other leaders.
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has been leading the TAWE movement, which is strongly opposed to Wetang’ula’s leadership.
Natembeya believes Wetang’ula and Mudavadi have used their positions previously to impoverish the community, only to benefit themselves. Recent reports show that Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has pushed Wetangula politically and is perceived by a section of area residents to be the current Luhya and western region kingpin.
