In a recent development that has captured the attention of Nairobi residents and the nation at large, Huruma Ward Member of the County Assembly (MCA), Peter Owera Oluoch, has been charged with multiple counts of forgery and providing false information. The allegations center around the presentation of fraudulent academic credentials and have sparked discussions about integrity and accountability among public officials.
Peter Owera Oluoch has been a notable figure in Nairobi’s political landscape, serving as the MCA for Huruma Ward. His tenure has been marked by active participation in legislative matters and community development initiatives. As a representative of one of Nairobi’s vibrant wards, Oluoch has been involved in various projects aimed at improving infrastructure, education, and social services within Huruma.
Huruma MCA forgery
The charges against Oluoch are serious and multifaceted. According to reports, he is accused of presenting a forged diploma certificate purportedly from Kenya Polytechnic to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on December 20, 2012. Further allegations include forging the stamp and signature of Nelson Pinto Atudo, an advocate of the High Court, on a self-declaration form dated May 26, 2017. Additionally, Oluoch is accused of forging the signature of another legal practitioner, Andrew Khakula, and making false declarations under the Leadership and Integrity Act.
On March 3, 2025, Oluoch appeared before Anti-Corruption Magistrate Isabella Barasa at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court. He faced five counts, including forgery and providing false information. Oluoch pleaded not guilty to all charges. The court granted him a bond of Sh3 million with a surety of the same amount or an alternative cash bail of Sh100,000. Additionally, he was ordered to surrender his travel documents, and a pre-trial mention was scheduled for March 25, 2025.
