The grieving family of the late Kasipul MP, Hon. Charles Ong’ondo, has made a passionate appeal to investigative agencies to conduct thorough investigations into his brutal murder to ensure that those responsible, from the masterminds to the perpetrators, are apprehended and prosecuted.

The call for justice came during the emotional final requiem mass and burial ceremony held at Karabok Primary School, where hundreds of mourners, including family, friends, and political leaders, gathered to pay their last respects.

Maggie Were, the MP’s widow, fought back tears as she addressed the crowd, appealing to the government to ensure her husband’s killers face the full force of the law.

“We will only find peace when justice is served. My husband served this community with dedication, and his life was cut short in the cruellest way. We demand answers,” she said.

Her co-wife, Ann Were, echoed the sentiment, adding, “We are not just burying a husband today—we are burying a father, a leader, and a pillar of this family. The government must help us uncover the truth.”

Pascal Were, the slain MP’s son, stood firm as he vowed the family would not rest until justice is served.

“Our father did not raise cowards. We will not be intimidated. We demand justice, and we will fight for it,” he declared, drawing applause from mourners.

Paul Juma Were, the late MP’s elder brother, expressed the family’s shock and confusion over the murder, questioning the motive behind the killing.

“Who would want my brother dead? Why was he targeted? As a family, we are still grappling with these questions. The police must unravel this mystery,” he said.

While acknowledging the progress made in the investigation, Juma urged law enforcement to intensify their efforts. “We appreciate the work done so far, but we need more. The killers must not go unpunished.”

Boyd Were, Hon. Were’s secondborn, issued a stern warning to anyone attempting to silence the family. “We will not be bullied. Our father stood for truth, and we will honor his legacy by ensuring justice prevails.”
