MIRACLE ON THE SUPERHIGHWAY – In a plot twist straight out of an action movie (but with less Vin Diesel and more Brookside), a boda boda rider who was dramatically flattened by a milk tanker on Thika Superhighway has somehow lived to tell the tale, and yes, he still enjoys dairy.

Ian Githinji, a familiar face zipping around the Kamakis bypass doing all sorts of errands, became the centre of nationwide concern after a stomach-churning video showed a milk truck running him over like a speed bump with dreams. For two whole days, his family feared the worst… until they spotted his unmistakable rider’s jacket in the viral clip and realised, “Wait a minute, that’s Ian!”

Rushed to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral, and Research Hospital (KUTRRH), Githinji is now in stable condition, nursing multiple fractures in his arms and legs, while doctors double-check if his pelvic region is still in one piece (he might need that later).

“He’s responding well to treatment,” confirmed medical staff, “and probably wondering if the milk truck at least delivered on time.”

The incident, which had Kenyans mourning a man who wasn’t even dead yet, has now become a talking point on just how dangerous our roads are and why giving way to trucks full of milk might be the new rule of thumb.

From nearly becoming a road statistic to now receiving visitors bearing bananas and Lucozade, Githinji’s story is the kind of miracle you don’t just see, you feel (preferably not under 10 wheels).

As he recovers, one thing is clear. this man has more lives than a Nairobi cat. And someone better make a movie about this. Working title? Fast and Fermented.
