Two associates of the Akasha network and Indian businessmen, Rahiel Daud and Hitesh Motwani, faced charges at Kibera Law Courts for threatening to kill and assault causing bodily harm.

They appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Zainabu Abdul and denied both charges.

The court heard that on March 25, 2026, at Taal Club in Westlands, Nairobi County, the two allegedly threatened to kill Arya Anuj without lawful reason. Prosecutors also stated that they assaulted him at the same time, causing bodily harm.

Through their lawyer, the accused asked for lenient bail terms. The defence said they are not a flight risk and will follow all court conditions.

The prosecution did not oppose bail but stressed the seriousness of the threat to kill charge. The state asked the court to review a probation report before making a decision and requested an order to restrict the accused from leaving the court’s jurisdiction.

Authorities also link the two to alleged fraud and extortion activities.

The magistrate ordered that both remain in custody at Parklands Police Station until March 30, 2026. The court will use a pre-bail report to decide on bond terms.

Earlier, the defence sought to delay the plea. They claimed the accused were forced to record statements behind a building at Capitol Hill Police Station. They also asked the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to review the charges.

In response, the magistrate stated that charge sheets come from the DPP after review of investigation files and are filed when there is enough basis for the accused to answer the charges.
