Tax Officer Mr. Luna

Residents of Malakisi, Kisiamo, Lukaala, Kulisiru, and Bukokholo are calling on the county government to address serious allegations of corruption against Mr. Luna, an officer in the tax department. These claims, which involve kidnappings and extortion, have sparked rising tensions within these communities.

According to local traders and businesspeople, Mr. Luna has been extorting money from them and, in some cases, kidnapping them and taking them to unknown locations, only to leave them stranded. This pattern of behavior has caused significant distress and turmoil among the residents, particularly among business owners who feel targeted and unsafe.

Nancy Nelima, a resident of Malakisi, recounted a recent encounter with Mr. Luna. “He came to Malakisi last month and told me to enter his vehicle. Once inside, he insisted that I give him a bribe. When I refused to comply, things took a turn for the worse,” she said, highlighting the fear and uncertainty that many in the community now live with.

Amos Barasa, a resident from Kisiamo, echoed these concerns, noting that Mr. Luna often engages in what he describes as “short-changing” those who pay him off. “Imagine giving him Sh5,000 today, and when he comes back tomorrow, he claims he doesn’t recognize you. We want the County Government to act,” Barasa said, underscoring the frustration and desperation felt by many.

As tensions continue to rise, the residents of these communities are demanding swift action from the county government to investigate and address these serious allegations. They are calling for transparency and accountability in the tax department to restore trust and ensure the safety of local business owners.
