In a surprise move, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has granted taxpayers a four-day extension to file their annual tax returns, shifting the deadline from June 30 to July 5.
The extension comes as a major relief to thousands of Kenyans who were racing against time to beat the initial cut-off. KRA cited overwhelming demand on its online iTax system and a surge in last-minute filings as key reasons for the extension.
The authority is urging all taxpayers to take advantage of the additional days to ensure compliance and avoid penalties. Those yet to file are advised not to wait until the final hours.
This marks a rare but welcome decision by KRA, easing pressure on individuals and businesses navigating the annual tax season crunch.
