Tensions flared in Kerio Valley as residents came out swinging in defence of Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen, dismissing recent calls for his sacking as “unfounded and politically driven.”
This comes after Baringo North MP Joseph Makilap accused Murkomen of failing to contain insecurity in the region, a claim that locals say couldn’t be further from the truth. According to the residents, the first quarter of 2025 has seen a remarkable drop in banditry and livestock theft, thanks to Murkomen’s targeted security interventions and boots-on-the-ground approach.
“Our villages are sleeping better. Roads are safer. Children are going to school without fear,” one elder remarked during a spontaneous roadside rally.
The dramatic show of support came as Murkomen attended a Sunday service at the Holy Family Parish in Kapsowar, Elgeyo Marakwet County, where he was met not with criticism but with cheers, songs, and heartfelt gratitude from the congregation.
As political fault lines deepen, the people of Kerio are making one thing clear: their CS is not going down without a fight, and they’re right behind him.
