Ex President Nelson Havi
A city businessman has accused controversial former Law Society of Kenyan President Nelson Havi of fraud, claiming that he overcharged and harassed her after representing her in certain court matters.
This comes barely months after Havi was embroiled in another vicious court battle with a client over a legal fee that is claimed to have been exaggerated.
“We agreed on a few of Sh2.1M, and we were shocked when he resurfaced with an abnormal fee of Sh 7.2 million; we are currently battling him out to legally correct the matter.
The client has vowed to fight till the end to stop the alleged extortion. This comes after Havi has continued his alleged sponsored war against the judiciary, which has escalated to everyone he feels he needs to attack.
“I have decided to come forward because I saw him talking too much about corrupt judges and insulting other people on his platform. I urge him to bring his house in order first,” said PQ.
During his tenure as the LSK President, Havi was also accused of some integrity issues, e.g., a lack of respect, leading to his impeachment.
Ten months ago, the ex-LSK president was accused by another client of going against their initial agreement and using the law to try and defraud him.
Insiders claim that this is the reason why Havi has lost a lot of clients in recent days.
“Once we manage to protect what is right from him, we will never approach him again. He is so slippery and a difficult man to trust,” said the complainant.
In the previous case, the Communications Authority of Kenya chairperson, Mary Wambui, contested a Sh133.7 million invoice raised by Havi & Company Advocates, claiming that she was to pay Sh12.18 million as a round figure for all eight cases with a value of Sh5.86 billion in which the law firm represented her.
She wondered how Havi reached the tune of Sh133M and called it absurd.
A famous female advocate who commented on the matter said that Havi has been an idle advocate in recent days.
“Havi’s law firm has continued to lose clients in recent days, and he looks like an idle advocate in the country,” she said.
