Edwin Amagola Munyeti
A NAWASCO (Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company) staff member, Edwin Amagola Munyeti, has been arraigned following allegations of using a forged academic certificate to secure employment at the company.
Munyeti, who previously held the position of marketing assistant at NAWASCO, was arrested by officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Monday. He was presented before Principal Magistrate Celesa Okore on Tuesday.
The court was informed that Munyeti used a falsified Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), purportedly issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), to obtain his position at NAWASCO.

According to EACC, this fraudulent act enabled him to unlawfully receive a total of Ksh 9,080,267 in salary payments from public funds between March 2010 and December 2023 during his employment at NAWASCO.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), acting on EACC’s recommendation, approved five charges against Munyeti, including forgery and fraudulent acquisition of public property. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
During the hearing, the prosecution, led by Thelma Nanjay, requested that the case be scheduled for mention to allow service of documents and for pretrial proceedings.
Munyeti appealed for leniency in bond conditions, citing unemployment and family responsibilities. With no objection from the prosecution, the court granted him a cash bail of Ksh 200,000 or an alternative bond of Ksh 500,000.
The case is scheduled for mention on May 26, 2025, in open court for pretrial directions.
