Former Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) boss Ezekiel Mutua has been ordered to return Ksh 27 million he pocketed following an irregular salary increase that nearly tripled his official pay.
The State Corporations Appeal Tribunal upheld a surcharge imposed by the Inspectorate of State Corporations, ruling that Mutua’s hefty salary boost was unlawful and lacked the necessary approvals from key government oversight bodies.
The tribunal’s decision brings an end to a drawn-out dispute over Mutua’s controversial pay rise during his tenure as CEO. The ruling reinforces ongoing efforts to clamp down on financial irregularities within state agencies.
