A daring cross border cattle raid ended in dramatic fashion after Kenyan police recovered livestock stolen from Uganda and driven into Turkana County.
According to security reports, a group of suspected Turkana youths crossed into Uganda, snatched cattle, and made a swift escape back into Kenya. But their victory was short lived.
Acting on an alert from Ugandan authorities, the National Police Service (NPS) launched a rapid response, sealing off escape routes and trailing the rustlers. The operation quickly escalated into a gunfire exchange as officers intercepted the suspects mid escape. The raiders were forced to flee under pressure, abandoning the stolen herd.
All livestock was successfully recovered in the high stakes operation.
The NPS has issued a stern warning to the public. steer clear of cross border crimes, including livestock theft and illegal incursions. The message is clear lawbreakers will be tracked down, no matter how far they run.
