Philip Aroko, the Homa Bay businessman earlier linked to the high-profile murder of Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were, has been acquitted.
Aroko was cleared of all charges on Thursday, June 26, after the court found insufficient evidence to tie him to the murder. All previous travel and communication restrictions have been lifted, giving him the green light to return to Homa Bay County without limitation.
He is now expected to take the stand as a state witness in the ongoing case.
Aroko, who was arrested in early May and later released on a KSh 300,000 cash bail, maintained his innocence throughout. Speaking after the court ruling, he pointed fingers at unnamed political operatives whom he accused of frustrating the investigation for personal gain.
His release marks a significant twist in the murder probe that continues to grip national attention.
