Imagine sending your little one to school, only to find out that the place meant to nurture and educate them is putting their health at risk. This is the tragic reality at Leldet Primary ECDE in Kamasian Ward, Kericho County.
The school toilets are in a deplorable state, forcing innocent young children to navigate filth and squalor just to answer nature’s call. And to make matters worse, as the cholera outbreak continues to sweep through the region, these unsanitary conditions are a ticking time bomb.
But where are the leaders? The MCA of Kamasian Ward and the Majority Leader of Kericho County Assembly, elected to serve and protect, seem to be turning a blind eye. Instead of swift action to fix this crisis, all we hear are dismissive slogans like “government is ours,” words that do nothing to protect our children from the looming health disaster.
How long will the people of Kamasian Ward wait for their leaders to prioritize the safety and well-being of their community? It’s time for action, accountability, and a real commitment to public health
Our leaders, whom we elect, don’t care about the public’s votes because their children are being educated outside the country; in this case, who suffers? Is the voter the one who wakes up very early in the morning and votes for a leader who doesn’t mind?
The county health workers should come together and save the school; this is according to the residents of Kericho County, before it’s too late, or the community should come up with their own solutions.
