In a dramatic and unprecedented move, the government has shut down 23 TV stations, including the popular Kameme TV, for blatantly defying betting ad regulations.

The shutdown, ordered immediately, targets stations that brazenly ignored a 30-day ban on airing gambling promos with payment prompts. Authorities are not messing around. The Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) has called on the Communications Authority to swiftly enforce the blackout, while the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has been alerted for further legal action.

The controversial list of shuttered stations
reads like a who’s who of local TV: Kameme TV, Tohanchane TV, Favour Life TV, Wave Time, Yahweh TV, Goodwill TV, Massa TV, JCDH TV, Swahili TV, Humble Touch, Deliverance TV, Moja One, Ngumbao TV, Naivera TV, Nyumba Itu, Aviation TV, Repower, Happy TV, Jawabu TV, Maajabu TV, Madhabahu TV, Michezo TV, and Venus TV.

This bold move has sent shockwaves across the media landscape, leaving viewers and industry insiders reeling. As the dust settles, all eyes are on the stations’ next steps and the impending legal battles.
